Catching up

Here is what's been happening with us:

Ryan rolled over completely by himself for the first time last weekend (March 20th)! This is him right after the big event.

My cousin and her family came by to meet Ryan. They had their sweet Azalee (hope I spelled that right!) on December 1st...so her and Ryan are 20 days apart. She was born with a ton of dark hair but unlike Ryan, she didn't lose all of hers! P.S. Ryan's new baby hair coming in is very light...almost golden :) That's big sister Ella in the middle :) So sweet!

Ryan likes his exersaucer! I like that there is another position I can put him in now besides the swing, holding him or flat on his back.

(I know his face is blurry in this one but he looks so cute standing up in it and I love his feet!)

I thought Ryan and daddy looked so cute in their white shirts and blue jeans :) We are LOVING being Ryan's parents!

A few firsts

So...this has been a week of changes for Ryan! I already wrote about his 2 teeth, trying to roll over and how much he weighs now.

I always put a stuffed animal (or friend as I call them) in his lap when he is in the swing so he won't feel alone and if he wants to grab it he could. Well, he finally did this week! We were at work and I looked over at him and he was holding his giraffe in the strawberry car (you don't see that everyday:) and had it in his mouth.

Also, Ryan had his first cereal today!

Yep...that's how well it went over :) Oh well, we will try again in the next couple days.

4 months

March 10...Today Ryan is 4 months old! He weighs 16 pounds 10 ounces and is 25-3/4 inches long!

Yesterday he really started trying to grab at his toys and almost yelling at them...in a nice way of course :) You can tell how much he is kicking because his legs are a blur! Love this picture of him turning around to see his "friends" behind him!
He is actually getting 2 teeth on the bottom! So far he doesn't seem to be TOO bothered by them but he is constantly chewing on his fingers and drooling like crazy.

Various and sundry

This weekend we took a road trip to celebrate our 3 year anniversary! I told Michael that I would plan our trip...and didn't tell him where going:) I love surprises so it was fun to get to surprise him!

We took of Friday from work, so we left Friday morning with me driving and Michael still not knowing where we were headed....until we turned on 290 going to Brenham! We have been wanting to tour the Blue Bell Creamery (I went probably 20 years ago and Michael had never been). Tickets are first come first serve and they only start selling them 30 minutes before the tour. (I overheard the lady on the phone telling someone that they are not taking group tour reservations for the summer because last summer they averaged 2,000 visitors a day, people were waiting 2-1/2 hours for tickets and they have no room for buses! WOW!) We are big Blue Bell lovers so we enjoyed hearing about and seeing how it was made. They give you a serving of ice cream after the tour and it was Michael's lucky day because since ice cream is dairy I am not eating it still for Ryan's (and our :) sake...so Michael got 2 servings of ice cream.


(On a side note, like a lot of women I know, I am a big Beth Moore fan...and I read the blog that she and her daughter's write. Her daughter Amanda and her family were on our Blue Bell tour! I saw her husband and her son Jackson first and thought they looked familiar...then I saw Amanda and Annabeth! We were on the elevator together because we both had baby strollers but I didn't say anything to her about knowing her....never know in those situations if you say "hi, just wanted you to know I read your blog and I thing yall are so amazing!" or just not. So I chose not.)

Anyway, enjoyed that and then headed on to Bryan to stay at this really neat bed and breakfast!

We stayed on the 2nd floor and it was so clean and cozy! The lady who owns/runs it was so sweet. From our first conversation, I thought she was a Christian...isn't it cool when you get that feeling about someone before they even say anything about the Lord?! We visited her for about 45 minutes when we got there and as she was telling us the story about Abigaile's Treehouse she talked about how the Lord opened all the doors for her to buy it...so neat to hear. We enjoyed sitting outside on our porch and relaxing.



I know it must be SO beautiful there in the spring/summer! Everything was just starting to bud.

Then we went to the George Bush Presidential Library. It was so interesting! I have always liked President Bush but I like him even more after hearing more of his story.


Ryan did so well all weekend! He is a good traveler and such a sweet boy! Yes, I know I write that a lot.

Ryan has been drooling a TON the past few weeks and I realized Saturday night that he is getting his first tooth!!! Michael was laughing at me because of how excited I got :)It is the bottom left (his left) tooth. It's just the very tip but it is there! I am amazed at how FAST things change with him. Wow. It is too small to get a picture of yet but I took this sweet one of him on the way home. He likes to chew on our finger through the paci.

We we got home I got out the bouncer and it says 4 months and up. Ryan will be 4 months on Wednesday so I figured we might try it out.


He kinda liked it some of the time...it might be an acquired taste for him. But I think he will really like it later! Also, 4 months and up is the exersaucer. It's fun that he is growing into some of his toys! Lots of fun ahead :)

Blog Book

I just wanted to show my blog book that I got printed! I am so so thrilled with it! Thanks Michelle for telling me about it :)


You get to pick out your front cover and back cover picture. I was impressed with how professional it is! (don't know what I was thinking it might be--hole punches with brads holding it together?!) It even has a table of contents. I started my blog last January so I printed out all of 2009. If you want to do this, go to thecutestblogontheblock.com. Not much to report in the Ryan department except that we had a fun momma/son day today. Michael went to a gun show in Houston with his dad so Ryan and I got to hang out :) I thank the Lord so much for him. I tell him everyday that he is an answer to our prayers.

Laughter is the best medicine....

Ryan laughed out loud for the first time tonight! So amazing! He's been SO on the verge of it for a week or two....mouth open and a laughing face, just no noise...until tonight!
All it took was a crazy lady (momma) saying the magic word "aaaabboooo" about 100 times and her hair flying in his face :) He laughed about 6 times and then got tired of our game...we will have to come up with something else that he thinks is funny!

Those pictures were actually of Ryan at work with me this morning. He was in such a great mood! Actually, he has been in a good mood most of the time since the doctor tripled his medicine and altered my diet i.e. no dairy or nuts...and no grapes either, not per doctor but per Ryan. His reflux is MUCH better...hoping the congestion goes away now too. We are so thankful!

I'll be your friend...

Ryan has made a few friends lately.

His friends hang out with him in the car. He will smile at them and coo and talk all the way home...so sweet! (fyi...this doesn't work ALL the time but a lot of the time he is peaceful in the car :) Michael thinks Ryan might be a little disappointed when he finds out there aren't really any purple bugs like that :)

The fan is also a friend Ryan likes to hang with. He will have a pretty good conversation with him some evenings.

Ryan LOVES sucking on his fist! It's amazing to watch a baby develop every day and see how he used to not have any control over his hands and now he watches his fist as he slowly brings it to his mouth...and then goes to town on it :) God's pretty amazing, huh?!
