Destin 2011

A couple weeks ago, we went to  Destin, FL for our second company trip!  We had our first trip 5 years ago when we went to Cancun, Mexico. We left for that trip the day after the second date I had with Michael so it was so fun to have him and Ryan with me this time!  (Even though I had a ton of fun on the last trip with my roomy Sheah :)

By company trip, I mean that they paid for everything! Isn't that amazing?!  We (the company) has been saving for this trip for the past 4 years.

This is when we started out on our way about 5 on Tuesday.
We drove to Pascagoula, MS that night.  We wanted to split the trip up to maybe make it easier on Ryan.  He really did pretty good! We had a ton of movies/dvds for him to watch and he was not interested in any of them but the ONE Baby Einstein that we had.  We found two more Baby Einstein dvds while we were in Florida and he liked those too.  We played a lot, colored and did anything else we could think of to pass the time.

In Destin, we stayed at the Hilton Sandestin.  It was extremely nice! We were on the 14th floor and this was our view.
I love this picture of Ryan the first morning we were there.  Think he is comfortable?
The first day we were there, it was very sunny and hot!  We started the day by playing on the beach.  Ryan was a little scared of the waves at first but quickly got used to them.  He would say "oooooohhhhhh" :) He loved playing in the sand.

This time of year is apparently the time that seaweed comes in.  If I had never been to Florida before, I would not have been that impressed with the water.  It was obviously lots cleaner than our beaches but their was a TON of seaweed!  I was surprised.  You can see a little of it in this next picture. (It really doesn't look bad in the pictures...but it was when you got out in the water.)
Nap time
The pools were really nice and Ryan had fun playing in the water.  The hotel also had a kid pool that was only 6 inches deep!  I thought that was really nice :)
More beach pictures:
This was the view from our room at night.  I was a lot nervous about how high up we were. Thankfully our balcony was concrete so you couldn't even see over the side unless you were tall and right up to the edge.  Most of the rooms just had bars for the railing....no THANK YOU!

Friday was a little overcast in the morning but it was really nice since we didn't have to squint as bad and it wasn't nearly as hot. (I love Ryan's "sun hats".  This blue one was Ryan's second-cousin Peter's hat that got passed down to him.  The tan one in the previous pictures was Ryan's second-cousin Henry's that got passed down to him :)
There was an arcade at the hotel that Ryan and Michael had a good time playing in.
These shirts are part of Michael's Father's Day gift.  Michael's shirt says "7th Generation True Texan" and Ryan's says "8th Generation True Texan".
This is one of my all time favorite pictures of Ryan.  Love his sweetness. This was the second day of beach napping :)
The Mississippi Bar Association was having a conference at our hotel.  There were tons of people with their families.  They put on a big firework show on Friday night.  We had stepped outside just as they were starting the show and Ryan FREAKED out.  I don't blame him! They were REALLY loud!  So we went into the inside pool area and watched them from there.

Saturday was rainy all day!  They are also in a drought there so they were extremely happy about the rain.  We shopped a little and just had  a relaxing day.  That afternoon, we played on the beach in the rain!  We wanted Ryan to get to play in the sand one more time. He had fun :)

We enjoyed our trip so much! Not paying for a vaction makes it that much more fun :) Thank you International Currency!
